Lets talk Paleo!

When I found out I had Hashimoto's I started reading about cutting out gluten and sugars and grains. My natural doctor said I should do this. So, I started Paleo and for the first time in years I started to lose weight! I did start thyroid meds at the same time but I feel like it was a combo of the two. After a few months I had lost 20 lbs! I was over the moon excited! Like many others out there I had struggled to lose weight my whole life but mainly the last 10 years it was impossible! I ate a clean diet, counted calories, exercised and lifted weights! NOTHING helped!

The way I do Paleo is, No sugar, No Grains, No peanuts, no Legumes. I dont eat much fruit (because I am trying to lose weight) I don't eat much dairy. Some people don't eat any dairy but it is up to you and how you feel when you eat it.

I snack on a lot of nuts like almonds and cashews and berries for a snack. I try to eat organic, grass fed meat. Especially, when it comes to beef. I love to eat spaghetti Squash. If you have never made it I put together some pics.

Cut in half and scrape out guts. Coat insides with olive oil. Cover and put in oven 375 for an hour until soft and it can be pulled out with a fork. Enjoy with grass fed butter and salt or spaghetti sauce with meatballs.

If you have a thyroid issue.....then you probably have adrenal issues.

A lot of people find that they get on thyroid meds and don't feel better. This is what I experienced. There are many things that can play into this.

#1) Adrenal Fatigue

Here are some symptoms of adrenal fatigue:

1) Do you have a hard time falling asleep at night?

2) Do you wake up frequently during the night?

3) Do you have a hard time waking up in the morning early, or feeling refreshed?

4) Do bright lights bother you more than they should?

5) Do you startle easily due to noise?

6) When standing from sitting or from lying down, do you feel lightheaded or dizzy?

7) Do you take things too seriously, and are easily defensive?

8 ) Do you feel you don’t cope well with certain people or events in your life?

STOP THE THYROID MADNESS is a great site that has so much info! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/

Why I started Hashimoto Help

I started this blog to help others who are like me. People who need help and don't know where to turn becuase there doctor won't help them or nobody believe's that they are really ill. A lot of people with thyroid issues suffer in silence. I knew for many years that there was something wrong with me. I went back and forth from the doctor's office and all they gave me was antidepressants. They never really helped.

I started researching one day on Face Book and found a great group called Thyroid Sexy! It's a great group! They have a whole section on which labs you should have done to test your thyroid correctly. NEWS FLASH!!!! MOST DOCTORS ONLY TEST TSH! THIS IS NOT ENOUGH!!! Another favorite of mine is FTPO for THYROID https://www.facebook.com/groups/FTPOThyroid/

FYI: Some of these groups are public. This means that any of you FB friends can see what you post in the group. Some are closed. This means nobody can see your posts unless they too are a member of the group.
